From the stories that have been widely circulated, the beginning of the formation of the root bridge is a work of a scholar named Pakih Sokan in about 1916. In the story Pakih Sokan very concerned to see the state of his students who recite in his place because of the difficulty to go Koran Shaded Batang river or flood affected. Although there has been a bamboo bridge, the river is still difficult to cross because the bamboo bridge is often carried away by the flood. Then Pakih Sokan have initiative to plant two banyan trees on both sides of the river. As time goes by the growth in the two trees that have been planted, Pakih Sokan then wrap the roots in a bamboo bridge that is often used to traverse rod shadow. The longer of the two trees are growing so roots firmly entwined or twisted to form a bridge that can still be used until now. This place is called the Root Bridge because this bridge is made of woven roots and interconnected to form a bridge from the two trees are located opposite each other and separated by a river. The root bridge is quite powerful and can be used by people who want to cross the river. Historically, Root Bridge is made of pure roots woven or connected to form a bridge. However, due to aging and too often people passing across, the bridge is then reinforced with a wire mounted on both sides made of steel.
